Have you ever wanted to convert an area of your home that doesn’t have any air conditioning or heat, but there is no space for traditional duct work and mechanical parts needed to do so? Maybe you have a spacious attic that would make a great place for a playroom for all the kids when your family and friends come to visit. Or, that unconditioned area that would add a much needed overflow space whenever everyone you know has had enough of the cold weather up north and showed up unannounced. Well, you are in good hands, because there are great alternatives to our large, traditional a/c systems. The system I am referring to is known as a ductless split system. You may have heard me talk about it before.
Ductless split systems come in some great shapes and sizes that can accommodate a variety of spaces. What this clever device is comprised of is an outdoor unit just like your central system and an indoor device that is mounted on a wall. While there is some interconnecting tubing between the two, this system works just like a traditional a/c system minus all the ductwork. They even have really stylish versions with front panels that allow you to add images and convert them into wall art.
There are great benefits to this type of system like the ease of installation – usually only requiring a day to install. They are very quiet. They are installed without the need for carpenters and drywall specialist who would have to cover up the ductwork on a traditional system. Therefore, there is no construction mess to clean up. If you’ve always wanted that extra storage space, game room, man cave or a comfortable work shed, wouldn’t it make sense to look into what is possible?
As always, thanks for reading,
