I loved that movie, what I am referring to of course is the movie “Ghost Busters”. If you look in your local Sanibel/Captiva phone book there is no local listing for a company dealing with the super natural/paranormal. Humm, a/c, heat and dealing with the undead, maybe this could be a new division. Well anyway, with continued record cold temperatures on Sanibel and Captiva I am going to take the time to discuss a very good option for heating your home.
One of your choices for heating in this area is what’s known as a heat pump. When people hear the word heat pump they often think of pool heating. This is true; they both operate in the same manner and are both called heat pumps. The difference is the equipment and who your gonna call when you have a problem with each. Pool heat pumps are serviced and installed by pool professional. Household heat pumps are serviced and installed by H.V.A.C contractors, also known as your local a/c man. I will discuss the household heating and leave the pool heating discussion to the pool experts. With regards to the comfort in your home, I will discuss how heat pumps operate and what the benefits are.
An overly simplified explanation is that a heat pump is an air conditioning system that has some extra parts. During the summer it takes the heat from the inside of your home and deposits it on the outside. In the winter it does the exact opposite. It takes heat from the outside and brings it in. Even when it is only 40 degrees outside there is still heat in the air. Heating your home this way is very efficient as opposed to using a space heater. Another benefit to a heat pump is it will maintain a much warmer environment then electric heat. With an electric heating system you can usually only get the temperature 20-30 degrees above the outside temp. While with a heat pump system you can achieve any temperature that you want. This can make a big difference on those 35 degrees days. Thanks for reading and remember for all of your paranormal needs please keep us in mind. I wonder if there is a license and a Sanibel permit needed for that!
Thanks for reading,
